ABSTRACT
Postinfarction ventricular septal rupture is a rare mechanical complication, but with very high mortality. We present two cases that were hospitalized in a Coronary Care Unit of a General Hospital, who underwent a transthoracic echocardiogram and confirmed, in both cases, the rupture of the inferior interventricular septum as a complication of an inferior myocardial infarction, one of them with extension to right ventricle. Later, several common and uncommon aspects are analyzed betwween the two cases presented, that could explain the diferent evolution of this patients.
