Experiencia de una unidad de terapia intensiva oncológica mexicana

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Reportar la experiencia sobre pacientes críticos ingresados a una UTI oncológica.
Diseño: Estudio prospectivo.
Lugar: UTI de un hospital oncológico de la Ciudad de México.
Pacientes: Pacientes ingresados a la UTI de enero a diciembre de 1998.
Intervenciones: Ninguna.
Resultados: Durante el periodo de estudio fueron evaluados un total de 398 pacientes (edad media 50 ± 18 años, 227 mujeres, 171 hombres). Tuvieron 14.5 ± 7.3 puntos en la escala de APACHE, 4.2 ± 5.2 días de estancia, 3.4 ± 4.7 días de ventilación mecánica y mortalidad de 24%.
Conclusiones: La existencia de UCIs oncológicas es necesaria para el tratamiento de pacientes críticos.
