Enseñanza del modelo biopsicosocial de la Medicina Familiar

RESUMEN
La práctica médica requiere de una nueva conceptualización con el fin de incorporar los valores humanísticos en su quehacer cotidiano. El estado del arte de la biomedicina sólo puede considerarse como un estándar de oro cuando incluye características como la ética, valores humanísticos, actitudes y conductas morales en el curriculum. Las biociencias y los valores humanísticos deben ser integrados en el diseño curricular, creando un entorno centrado en el que aprende. Las habilidades de comunicación así como las habilidades diagnósticas y terapéuticas deben ser aprendidas de acuerdo con las necesidades de los pacientes y de la comunidad, lo cual es especialmente relevante para la Medicina Familiar. Esta perspectiva se ha integrado en el Modelo Biopsicosocial de la Medicina Familiar. La preparación tradicional ha reforzado de manera común los valores que toman en cuenta los datos objetivos sobre las experiencias subjetivas. La falta de una atención explícita a este aspecto da como resultado que los valores humanísticos sean descuidados o devaluados de manera importante.
