COVID-19: lo que debemos saber en Colombia

RESUMEN
El nuevo coronavirus 2 del síndrome respiratorio agudo severo (SARS-CoV-2) es la
causa de la propagación rápida de una enfermedad que afecta a miles de personas en
todo el mundo. El 11 de marzo de 2020, la Organización Mundial de la Salud declaró
el brote de COVID-19 como una pandemia. El virus se ha identificado como la causa
de un brote de neumonía de causa desconocida en la ciudad de Wuhan, China, en
diciembre de 2019. La manifestación clínica es la de una infección respiratoria con
gravedad de los síntomas que va desde una enfermedad leve similar al resfriado común
hasta una neumonía viral grave que provoca síndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda
potencialmente mortal. No hay tratamiento específico disponible que se haya probado
clínicamente, diferente al tratamiento de soporte.
