Análisis de cierre apical del tercer molar para determinación de edad dental y cronológica

RESUMEN
La evaluación de la maduración dental es aceptada como el método más confiable para estimar la edad en niños. La identificación de cadáveres o personas vivas es, dada su trascendencia en el ámbito ético y legal (civil o penal) uno de los principales retos de los profesionales de la Medicina forense. La estimación de la edad en individuos de 14 a 25 años es de utilidad para la identificación humana en la práctica clínica y tanatológica forense, así también, como indicador del crecimiento y desarrollo. Cuando todos los dientes permanentes han completado su formación, el desarrollo radicular de la tercera molar es el único indicador que puede ser utilizado para lograr predecir la edad de los individuos hasta los 25 años. En esta revisión analizaremos la metodología aplicada actualmente para la estimación de edad dental y cronológica, incluyendo el Método Demirjian.
