RESUMEN

En la actualidad la realización de la biopsia hepática para establecer el diagnóstico de carcinoma hepatocelular en pacientes cirróticos tiene un papel menos decisivo. En ello tienen que ver muchos factores como el desarrollo de técnicas diagnósticas como la tomografía axial computarizada y la resonancia magnética de imágenes, el riesgo de complicaciones durante y después de la biopsia y la poca utilidad para la toma de conductas terapéuticas.
