RESUMEN
La familia
Mycoplasmataceae, la cual abarca al orden
Mycoplasmatales clasificado bajo la clase
Mollicutes, contiene a los géneros
Mycoplasma y
Ureaplasma. Aunque los
Mollicutes presentan un genoma notablemente pequeño, pudieron evolucionar a partir de un ancestro común Gram positivo con un contenido de G + C parecido al grupo de
Lactobacillus, por la pérdida de una región considerable del genoma. En el humano son seis los
Mollicutes (
Mycoplasma genitalium,
Mycoplasma pneumoniae,
Ureaplasma urealyticum,
Mycoplasma hominis,
Mycoplasma penetrans y
Mycoplasma fermentans) que se asocian con enfermedades caracterizadas por alta morbilidad y baja mortalidad, infecciones que pueden ser sistémicas en neonatos y en pacientes inmunocomprometidos. Debido a que los
Mollicutes representan un grupo filogenéticamente relacionado con patógenos, por su capacidad para colonizar diferentes huéspedes y sitios anatómicos, son considerados como un grupo de organismo ideal para realizar estudios de comparación genómica. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar la comparación genómica entre cuatro
Mollicutes involucrados con diversos padecimientos en el humano.
