RESUMEN

La lesión de los nervios relacionados con la región inguinal tiene una incidencia menor al 1% cuando se realiza la corrección quirúrgica de una hernia inguinal; los nervios principalmente afectados son el ilioinguinal y el iliohipogástrico, actualmente con la hernioplastia laparoscópica los nervios cutáneo femoral lateral y genitocrural resultan más frecuentemente lesionados, estas lesiones son originadas ya sea por manipulación, o por atrapamiento con las grapas fijadoras de las prótesis (malla) colocadas durante la cirugía, o por la fibrosis tisular que ésta puede ocasionar; otros nervios importantes que pueden lesionarse son los nervios crural y obturador, este último puede ser lesionado por la posición de litotomía con abducción mayor a 30 grados y/o por la corriente monopolar durante la disección. Presentamos dos casos de lesión de nervios periféricos, uno de ellos con parálisis del nervio obturador y el otro con neuralgia del nervio genitocrural, ambas secundarias a hernioplastia inguinal laparoscópica.
