Efecto de la hiperglucemia en la actividad plaquetaria

RESUMEN
Las plaquetas son componentes esenciales en la formación de coágulos en los sitios
de daño vascular, pero también en la formación de trombos, en ausencia de daño
vascular. Se ha sugerido que las plaquetas de los pacientes diabéticos son hiperactivas
y contribuyen a la aparición de complicaciones graves de la enfermedad, como
el infarto agudo de miocardio e infarto cerebral. La hiperglucemia es tan sólo uno
de los factores en la diabetes mellitus, asociados a la hiperactividad de las plaquetas,
no obstante, los mecanismos por los cuales induce estos efectos continúan en
estudio. Esta revisión abordará los mecanismos que relacionan a la hiperglucemia
con aumento en la activación plaquetaria, así como el papel que pudiera tener la
glicosilación en la activación plaquetaria.
