FRAGMENTO
En el antiguo libro llamado El Apocalipsis, escrito por San Juan, el Evangelista, se mencionan a los universalmente conocidos Cuatro Jinetes que representaban las mayores calamidades para el género humano: la peste, la guerra, el hambre y la muerte, lo que inspiró a numerosos artistas del Renacimiento, como la hermosa xilografía del siglo XVI de Durero. Con el devenir del tiempo, cambia la apreciación de los flagelos humanos y desde el punto de vista médico y social, sin que hayan perdido su importancia estos antiguos azotes de nuestra naturaleza humana, han sido parcialmente sustituidos, o al menos hermanados, otros más modernos como el SIDA, las diferentes drogadicciones, el cáncer y la diabetes para cuyo combate se gastan cantidades astronómicas de dinero que, de cualquier manera, resultan insuficientes. Muchas exageraciones e imputaciones, algunas infundadas, se han hecho a estas enfermedades.
