Hematuria macroscópica: a propósito de un caso con sospecha de enfermedad de Berger

RESUMEN
Se presenta el caso clínico de un paciente de seis años con episodios recurrentes de hematuria macroscópica asociados en su mayoría a infecciones de vías respiratorias superiores. Se descarta afectación secundaria y se maneja con sospecha clínica de nefropatía por IgA primaria, condición con bajo riesgo de progresión a enfermedad renal crónica de forma conservadora, siendo una enfermedad frecuente pero raramente diagnosticada por el médico de primer contacto. En este estudio se informa sobre los avances en la fisiopatología y el diagnóstico de la enfermedad, los aspectos clínicos e histopatológicos del paciente pediátrico con enfermedad renal, el dilema de la toma de biopsia renal en una entidad que se presenta a temprana edad y se padece de por vida, el pronóstico y tratamiento del paciente con hematuria de origen glomerular.
