La autopercepción en el caso de la parálisis del sueño: Un estado de conciencia dentro del sueño MOR

RESUMEN
Los estados de consciencia durante el dormir pueden ser herramientas
útiles para entender este fenómeno, en condiciones normales y
patológicas. Se presentan argumentos filosóficos sobre la consciencia,
la cognición y los fenómenos específicos de la autocopia durante el
sueño y la vigilia. Un fenómeno en particular, el de la parálisis del
sueño es descrito como un estado de consciencia durante el sueño
de movimientos oculares rápidos (MOR), en donde estamos con una
parálisis funcional propia del sueño MOR. La parálisis del sueño es
enlistada dentro de las parasomnia del sueño MOR, forma parte de
la tétrada de la narcolepsia, y existe una forma idiopática primaria
con una alta prevalencia a nivel familiar. En algunas personas además
de la autoscopía, se agregan alucinaciones hipnagógicas y lo que se
describe como “presencias”. Estos fenómenos y la dificultad para
respirar que se observa en la parálisis del sueño, han hecho que se les
confunda fuera y dentro del terreno médico con las pesadillas, con las
cuales solo tienen un evento en común y que es la angustia onírica.
