Abordaje diagnóstico del paciente con ascitis

RESUMEN
La acumulación de fluido en la
cavidad peritoneal se denomina
ascitis. La causa más frecuente
de ascitis a nivel mundial es
hipertensión portal secundaria a
cirrosis. Otras causas comunes
son además malignidades y falla
cardiaca. El tratamiento depende
de un diagnóstico exitoso con
respecto a su causa. El objetivo
de esta revisión es establecer
algoritmos diagnósticos ante
pacientes que presentan ascitis y
brindar información al personal
de salud de Costa Rica y adecuar
los conocimientos sobre esta
patología.
