PET/CT falsos positivos en el Hospital Médica Sur

RESUMEN
Antecedentes. El PET/CT es un estudio que hoy en día es muy
útil para el diagnóstico, determinación de respuesta a tratamiento
y seguimiento de pacientes con padecimientos oncológicos. El
objetivo de este trabajo fue presentar una serie de casos donde se
descartó la posible recurrencia de enfermedad oncológica sugerida
por PET/CT posterior a tratamiento curativo.
Material y métodos.
Revisamos casos de padecimientos oncológicos tratados en
el Hospital Médica Sur de 2005 al 2012 con intento curativo y
seguimiento con PET/CT y probable recurrencia.
Resultados. Se
encontraron cincos casos que cumplieron nuestros criterios de inclusión,
cuyas lesiones de probable recurrencia fueron en cuatro de
ellos tuberculosis y un caso de reacción inflamatoria.
Conclusión.
Ante pacientes oncológicos, tratados con intento curativo de su
enfermedad, se debe realizar una biopsia de la lesión para excluir
posibles patologías de otra naturaleza no oncológica.
