Megacolon tóxico por citomegalovirus en el embarazo: reporte de un caso y revisión de la literatura

RESUMEN

El término de «megacolon tóxico» describe una enfermedad rara, pero potencialmente fatal por complicación de la enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal (EII), y por complicación de causas infecciosas. La epidemiología ha cambiado en las áreas de infectología. Su prevalencia en la paciente obstétrica es extremadamente rara y se encuentran solo ocho casos en los reportes de la literatura médica; su manejo se da solamente por recomendaciones basadas en la población general. El propósito de este artículo es reportar un caso de megacolon tóxico en una paciente obstétrica y hacer una revisión de la literatura sobre los conceptos actuales y su manejo.
