Papel de la artroscopia en las lesiones traumáticas del tobillo

RESUMEN
Fundamento: las lesiones traumáticas alrededor de la articulación del tobillo son frecuentes y aunque se logra la reducción anatómica, en muchas ocasiones el resultado no es el esperado. Las lesiones intrarticulares indetectables a simple vista son las responsables de los resultados de estos tratamientos. Para este tipo de lesiones la artroscopia ofrece ventajas diagnósticas y terapéuticas.
Objetivo: realizar una revisión sobre el tratamiento artroscópico de pacientes con lesiones traumáticas del tobillo.
Métodos: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de un total de 330 artículos publicados en Pubmed, Hinari y Medline mediante el localizador de información Endnote. Se utilizaron 50 citas seleccionadas para realizar la revisión, 44 de ellas de los últimos cinco años y se incluyeron cuatro libros.
Desarrollo: se analizaron las ventajas de la artroscopia en la articulación del tobillo en las lesiones traumáticas, sus indicaciones y contraindicaciones. Se describió la técnica quirúrgica a emplear apoyado en dos imágenes propias del autor. Se abordaron las enfermedades traumáticas que más inciden en la articulación, así como sus peculiaridades.
Conclusiones: la artroscopia como tratamiento complementario en lesiones traumáticas del tobillo ofrece ventajas al permitir el diagnóstico y tratamiento de lesiones intrarticulares que interfieren en el resultado funcional de los enfermos.
