Lesiones pigmentadas de origen melanocítico en las mucosas y su evaluación mediante técnicas no invasivas

RESUMEN
Las mucosas no están uniformemente pigmentadas y existen
diversos grados de variación cromática, tanto en estado fisiológico
como patológico. Las distintas tonalidades de coloración se
deben a factores como el origen y la localización del pigmento,
el grado de queratinización, número y actividad de los melanocitos,
la vascularización y el tipo de tejido submucoso (óseo,
cartilaginoso, muscular).
Las lesiones pigmentadas de las mucosas son un verdadero
reto diagnóstico pues su origen es muy diverso. El melanoma
maligno de mucosas se asocia con un mal pronóstico. La dermatoscopia
y la microscopía confocal de reflectancia son auxiliares
diagnósticos que, como en la piel, facilitan el reconocimiento
oportuno de lesiones benignas y malignas de origen melanocítico.
