Estimulación del nervio tibial posterior como tratamiento de la disfunción del piso pélvico. Revisión de la bibliografía

RESUMEN
Antecedentes: la disfunción del piso pélvico que afecta a la mujer es de
alta prevalencia y puede manifestarse con diversos síntomas clínicos,
que incluyen frecuencia y urgencia urinaria, con o sin incontinencia,
retención o trastorno del vaciamiento urinario, incontinencia fecal,
obstrucción defecatoria, disfunción sexual y dolor pélvico. En las
últimas dos décadas surgió la inquietud de ofrecer a las pacientes con
disfunción del piso pélvico una terapéutica avanzada con enfoque
integral.
Objetivo: exponer los estudios encontrados en la bibliografía relacionados
con distintas aplicaciones de la estimulación del nervio tibial
posterior en la disfunción del piso pélvico, sus alcances y destacar las
tendencias más actuales de esta terapia.
Material y método: estudio retrospectivo fundamentado en la revisión
de la bibliografía en donde se utilizaron las palabras clave en idioma
inglés o MeSH (PubMed): estimulación del nervio tibial posterior, estimulación
nerviosa sacra, disfunción del piso pélvico, incontinencia
anal, incontinencia urinaria, retención urinaria y vejiga hiperactiva.
Conclusiones: la estimulación del nervio tibial posterior es, hoy en día,
una de las opciones terapéuticas más prometedoras para padecimientos
del piso pélvico.
