Estimulación cerebral profunda en enfermedad de Parkinson: Importancia de un equipo multidisciplinario

RESUMEN
La estimulación cerebral profunda (ECP) de blancos específicos es una opción terapéutica cada vez más utilizada en el manejo
de pacientes con enfermedad de Parkinson. La tasa de éxito depende de diversos factores en los que destaca la participación del
neurocirujano y del neurólogo; sin embargo, cada vez es más claro que se requiere de un equipo multidisciplinario para una
correcta selección del candidato; así como para la detección y manejo de posibles complicaciones previo, durante y posterior a
una cirugía de colocación de un estimulador cerebral profundo. La creación de un equipo conformado por neurólogo, neurofisiólogo,
neurocirujano funcional, neuropsicólogo, neuropsiquiatra e internista y su correcta interacción en el periodo perioperatorio son
clave para disminuir el riesgo de complicaciones y obtener un desenlace satisfactorio. En el presente trabajo se destaca la
participación y el papel a desarollar por cada uno de los miembros de este equipo multidisciplinario en el contexto de la cirugía de
estimulación cerebral profunda en el paciente con enfermedad de Parkinson.
