Comportamiento de las defunciones hospitalarias, evaluación de su ocurrencia durante los fines de semana en una institución de salud de tercer nivel en la ciudad de México durante el periodo 2007-2011

RESUMEN
La mortalidad hospitalaria durante los fines de semana es un tema aún controversial, se relacionan aspectos de la
atención médica en instituciones y factores propios a los que los individuos se exponen durante los fines de semana.
Material y métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional, transversal y descriptivo. Se analizaron las defunciones
ocurridas en un Instituto Nacional de Neurología y Neurocirugía de la ciudad de México del 2007 al 2011. Se analizaron
las causas de mortalidad, la frecuencia de presentación con respecto a los días de la semana, turnos de
atención y servicios hospitalarios. Se obtuvieron frecuencias simples, medidas de tendencia central, y la Chi
2 para
comparar proporciones.
Resultados: la tasa de mortalidad fue baja 4 x 100 egresos. No hubo incremento en la
mortalidad durante los fines de semana, la mayor mortalidad fue el lunes (17.7%). El mayor número de defunciones
ocurrió durante la noche (
p= 0.00006).
