Calidad de vida de los niños con padecimientos crónicos en el Hospital Infantil de Sonora

RESUMEN

Varios padecimientos crónicos inciden en la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud de los niños, por lo que consideramos examinar su incidencia en los niños del noroeste de México, donde hay una alta frecuencia de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles. Es por esta razón que se planeó hacer un estudio transversal en niños escolares que fueron egresados con diagnóstico de obesidad, asma y leucemia aguda linfoblástica atendidos en el hospital para su seguimiento ambulatorio y en un grupo de escolares sanos. A todos los niños y tutores se les aplicó el cuestionario PedsQL®, observando en ellos las diferencias estadísticas en la percepción de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud. La puntuación más baja (71.4) en la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud fue en los niños con obesidad y la más alta (83.9) en los asmáticos (p = 0.0034); la percepción de la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud en los obesos se redujo a 14.2 (p = 0.0026), y fue el padecimiento con mayor deterioro. Tal parece que las enfermedades investigadas aún ejercen un efecto negativo, por lo que se requieren estrategias particulares para estos niños durante su atención hospitalaria.
