Enfermedades reumáticas y discapacidad laboral en población adulta rural

RESUMEN
Introducción: la prevalencia e impacto funcional de las enfermedades musculoesqueléticas muestran variaciones nacionales y regionales. No hay estudios previos sobre estos temas en la región sur de la República Mexicana.
Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia que tiene el dolor musculoesquelético, enfermedades reumáticas y discapacidad laboral autoperci-bida en adultos de Cantamayec, Yucatán, México.
Material y métodos: se evaluó la presencia de dolor musculoesquelético en una población rural de Yucatán. Los individuos que reportaron dolor fueron referidos a evaluación clínica. Se utilizaron criterios diagnósticos para artritis reumatoide, osteoartritis, fibromialgia, gota y síndromes de dolor regional.
Resultados: se encuestaron 761 (92 %) de 829 sujetos elegibles; 197 (25.8 %) manifestaron dolor musculoesquelético; en 156 (20.4 %) se diagnosticó una enfermedad reumática cuya prevalencia individual fue síndrome de dolor regional, 6.1 %; osteoartritis, 5.8 %; artritis reumatoide, 4.7 %; lumbalgia, 1.8 %; fibromialgia, 1.3 % y gota, 0.7 %. Se presentó discapacidad laboral autopercibida en 144 (18.9 %).
Conclusiones: las prevalencias encontradas fueron dolor musculoesquelético, 25.8 %; enfermedades reumáticas, 20.45 % y discapacidad laboral autopercibida, 18.9 %. Con excepción de la encontrada para artritis reumatoide (4.7 %), la prevalencia de otras enfermedades reumáticas, dolor musculoesquelético y discapacidad laboral autopercibida fueron similares a las reportadas en otros países y regiones de México.
