Diagnóstico de infección articular periprotésica

Pregunta 1A: ¿Cuál es la definición de infección articular periprotésica (IAP)?
Consenso: La IAP se define como:
• Dos cultivos periprotésicos positivos con microorganismos fenotípicamente idénticos
• Una fístula que se comunique con la articulación
• Tener tres de los siguientes criterios menores:
— Proteína C reactiva sérica (PCR) y velocidad de sedimentación globular (VSG) elevadas.
— Cuenta elevada de glóbulos blancos (CGB) o una prueba positiva (++) en una tira de esterasa leucocitaria, hechos en líquido sinovial.
— Un elevado porcentaje de neutrófilos polimorfonucleares en el líquido sinovial (PMN %).
— Análisis histológico positivo en el tejido periprotésico.
— Un cultivo positivo.
