RESUMEN
Objetivo:Revisar los aspectos más sobresalientes en apendicitis aplicada a edades pediátricas, desde su epidemiología, fisiopatología, cuadro clínico, laboratorio, imagenología, así como tratamiento más actualizado.
Sede:Hospital de segundo nivel de atención.
Diseño:Artículo de revisión.
Selección de estudios:Se revisó la literatura mundial más representativa actualizada (119 referencias).
Extracción de datos:Se buscaron los aspectos epidemiológicos, fisiopatológicos, cuadro clínico, laboratorio, imagenología y tratamiento.
Resultados:Apendicitis aguda es el principal diagnóstico quirúrgico en todos los servicios de urgencia del país, y por eso enfocamos esta revisión a aquellos pacientes en quienes se puede presentar un retraso en su diagnóstico o el enmascaramiento del mismo con complicaciones indeseadas y funestas consecuencias. En el entendido que el cirujano general no lleva una educación quirúrgica en pacientes pediátricos, es necesario a falta de cirujano pediátrico realizar el procedimiento quirúrgico en tiempo y forma, evitando así el retraso en el tratamiento.
Conclusión:Proporcionamos una guía actualizada del padecimiento apendicular en edades pediátricas, en donde su identificación y tratamiento debe ser oportuno y adecuado.
