Fractura de escafoides carpiano en el niño. A propósito de un caso y revisión de la bibliografía

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Realizar una revisión bibliográfica de las infrecuentes fracturas del escafoides carpiano en pacientes pediátricos a partir de un caso clínico. El diagnóstico es usualmente difícil y el tratamiento se considera que debería ser estricto para minimizar la posibilidad de un retraso de consolidación o seudoartrosis.
Material y métodos: Niño de 10 años con fractura de escafoides carpiano visible en las radiografías simples. El paciente no cumplió las instrucciones de tratamiento, retirando el yeso a las tres semanas pero con evolución no obstante a la consolidación sin secuelas clínicas.
Discusión: Este caso es especialmente infrecuente dado el excelente resultado obtenido con un período de inmovilización considerablemente más corto que el mínimo recomendado.
