RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 42 casos, constituido por todos los pacientes que ingresaron en el Servicio de Ortopedia y Traumatología del Hospital Provincial Clínico Quirúrgico Docente “Manuel Ascunse Domenech”, desde octubre de 1999 hasta octubre del 2001 con el diagnóstico de OCF. Predominó el sexo femenino en el 73.8% de los enfermos. El grupo de edades con mayor incidencia fue el de 31 a 40 años representando un 54.7%. El uso de esteroides y el alcoholismo constituyeron las causas más encontradas con un 40.4% y 21.4% respectivamente. Predominó la osteonecrosis grado 2 de la clasificación de FICAT y ARLET en el 38% de los enfermos. Las perforaciones de FICAT fueron utilizadas en el 45.2% de los enfermos, las osteotomías en el 30.9%, la artrodesis en el 9.5% y la artroplastía total en el 14.2%. Predominó el resultado de excelente y bueno, representando un 38% y 42.8% respectivamente.
