RESUMEN
Recientemente han sido descritos síndromes con respuesta al tratamiento inmunomodulador que afectan la función del hipocampo y de la corteza, demostrándose su asociación con auto-anticuerpos contra antígenos sinápticos, particularmente para los receptores del glutamato y receptores GABA-B. Estos trastornos sinápticos pueden dar lugar a una amplia variedad de síntomas, incluyendo psicosis, trastornos del movimiento, déficit de memoria a corto plazo, y convulsiones refractarias. En algunos casos, estos trastornos se producen como una manifestación paraneoplásica de un cáncer asociado. Estos síntomas a menudo mejoran dramáticamente después de la resección del tumor o la inmunoterapia. Además, para algunos síndromes, la presencia de un tumor no necesariamente indica un mal pronóstico. En todos los síndromes, el déficit puede ser reversible a pesar de la duración o gravedad de los síntomas.
