Artroplastía total de rodilla navegada. ¿Por qué utilizarla?

RESUMEN
La artroplastía total de rodilla es un procedimiento cada día más común, que ofrece alivio seguro y efectivo para el dolor y restauración de función en pacientes afectados por artritis y osteoartrosis. El éxito del procedimiento es multifactorial, siendo la alineación del implante uno de los factores que más influye en un resultado satisfactorio y confiable. La artroplastía total de rodilla navegada fue diseñada con el objetivo de ayudar al cirujano a mejorar el alineamiento y la posición de los implantes, mientras él mantiene el control de ejecución de cortes y fijación. Revisamos en este artículo los orígenes de la navegación, los detalles técnicos, ventajas y desventajas, incluyendo un vistazo a los futuros usos, y el porqué se considera que su implementación en la cirugía de reemplazo de rodilla juega un rol de suma importancia con múltiples aplicaciones y una reproducibilidad que lo hace un procedimiento cada día más común, seguro y exitoso.
