RESUMEN

La etiopatogenia de la enfermedad diverticular del colon aún no está del todo esclarecida. El consumo de una dieta baja en fibra y el aumento de la presión intraluminal del colon son dos factores bien establecidos; sin embargo, existen otras alteraciones que no han sido estudiadas completamente, como el incremento en la concentración de fibras elásticas en las tenias musculares de la pared del colon.
