Impronta citológica: herramienta en el diagnóstico transoperatorio

RESUMEN
Introducción: desde 1929, la citología por impronta tiene un
gran valor en la consulta transoperatoria como complemento
diagnóstico y, en algunos casos, como método alterno.
Métodos: en un periodo de dos años, en el Servicio de Anatomía
Patológica y Citopatología del Hospital Universitario “Dr.
José Eleuterio González”, a 416 especímenes para biopsia
transoperatoria se les realizó impronta citológica o cortes por
congelación. Se registraron los diagnósticos y se compararon
con el diagnóstico final emitido con el análisis histológico definitivo.
Se obtuvo la
p estadística.
Resultados: nueve de los 416 especímenes (2.2 %) fueron diagnosticados
en forma errónea por citología, y ocho de 384 (2.1 %)
por congelación. La certeza diagnóstica para las improntas y
para los cortes por congelación fue de 97.8 y 97.9 %. Seis de
los 416 casos (1.4 %) tuvieron diagnóstico equivocado; la certeza
diagnóstica fue de 98.5 % con ambos métodos.
Conclusiones: la citología transoperatoria es rápida, fácil de
realizar y de bajo costo; aporta detalles morfológicos sobre
células intactas y sin los artificios secundarios al enfriamiento.
Utilizada conjuntamente con los cortes por congelación es
de gran valor.
