Síndrome del músculo piramidal de la pelvis de etiología inusual

RESUMEN
El término síndrome Piramidal fue acuñado en 1947 por Robinson, aunque la primera descripción del síndrome se atribuye a Yeoman en 1928. Es un síndrome que resulta controvertido porque puede confundirse con una hernia discal con compresión radicular. Su origen es una neuritis proximal del nervio ciático; se llega al diagnóstico por exclusión. Al presentarse un caso enviado a nuestro Servicio de Rehabilitación por Ortopedia con un diagnóstico de compresión radicular L5, originado aparentemente por protrusión discal y artrosis facetaria, la exploración indicó que se trataba del síndrome piramidal, llegando al diagnóstico etiológico de manera fortuita, motivo de la presentación del caso y de la revisión de la literatura.
