Otitis Externa: diagnóstico y tratamiento

RESUMEN
La otitis externa (OE) es una enfermedad frecuente sobretodo en el verano, ya que el 80% de los casos se presentan en esta
época del año. Al ser diagnosticada y tratada adecuadamente en sus etapas iniciales, puede resolverse rápidamente con
medidas generales y antibióticos óticos; por el contrario, si no se realiza un abordaje adecuado, puede complicarse
volviéndose crónica y rebelde al tratamiento. Es importante dominar la técnica de la exploración otológica, así como
conocer los cuidados generales que deberán ser explicados a los pacientes con OE en cualquiera de sus formas: aguda,
crónica y complicada.
