Contexto: La terapia con levotiroxina (L-T4) está basada en el supuesto de que la conversión de T4 a T3 provee cantidades adecuadas de hormona activa en los tejidos blancos. Sin embargo, en roedores la L-T4 sola no restaura un estado eutiroideo en todos los tejidos. Estudios previos de terapia combinada de L-T4/
liothyronine (L-T3) se han enfocado en eventos de desenlace relacionados con la calidad de vida; sin embargo, aún existe información limitada de los efectos sobre otras mediciones de acción de la hormona tiroidea.
