Disfunción sexual asociada a antidepresivos

RESUMEN
El tratamiento antidepresivo, aunque es efectivo al mejorar las manifestaciones de la depresión mayor, también puede ser capaz de inducir o exacerbar algunos síntomas de disfunción sexual; estos síntomas afectan negativamente la calidad de vida del sujeto que los padece y su autoestima, puede conducir a la falta de apego al tratamiento y, en consecuencia, a la recaída de la sintomatología depresiva. Los objetivos de la presente revisión son evaluar la frecuencia de la disfunción sexual asociada al tratamiento antidepresivo, realizar una actualización sobre la gama de efectos adversos sobre la sexualidad asociados con los diferentes antidepresivos, analizar cuáles de ellos se asocian más con este problema y cuáles son relativamente “nobles” en este aspecto; así mismo, proporcionar algunas recomendaciones de tratamiento, tanto farmacológicas como no farmacológicas para contrarrestar este efecto adverso de los medicamentos antidepresivos.
