Arteria ciática persistente

RESUMEN

La arteria ciática persistente es una rara malformación vascular que puede generar un grado de discapacidad e incluso la pérdida del miembro afectado. La arteria ciática persistente es una malformación congénita que se produce cuando el sistema femoral de la arteria ilíaca externa no se desarrolla o se desarrolla incompleta causando una irrigación anormal de la extremidad afectada. La etiología es desconocida y presenta una incidencia muy baja en todo el mundo que va desde 0,025 hasta 0,5% de acuerdo a los informes en literatura. Gracias al avance tecnológico, a los portadores de este tipo de patología podemos brindarles diferentes técnicas endovasculares que mantienen la viabilidad del miembro afectado con una pronta recuperación y evolución satisfactoria.
