RESUMEN
El cáncer de pene se presenta principalmente en hombres mayores de 60 años, rara vez ocurre antes de los 40 años. Clínicamente la lesión más frecuente es una úlcera en el glande. Alrededor 58% de los pacientes inicialmente tienen adenopatías palpables. Se desconoce su causa exacta, pero se ha demostrado una relación directa con la infección por Virus de Papiloma Humano (VPH) de alto riesgo, especialmente del tipo 16. Otros factores de riesgo son la fimosis y la mala higiene. Por otro lado, la circuncisión neonatal se asocia con una disminución del riesgo. El diagnóstico se hace mediante el examen físico y la confirmación con biopsia. El tratamiento depende del sitio y de la extensión del tumor primario y de la presencia de metástasis inguinales.
