El Dr. Archie Brain, destacado anestesiólogo inglés, revolucionó la práctica de la anestesiología gracias a un novedoso y práctico invento, la máscara laríngea (ML). El Dr. Brain nació en Kobe, Japón, en 1942, sus padres fueron dos diplomáticos ingleses. Estudió medicina en la Universidad de Radcliffe y se especializó en anestesiología en Hastings, East Sussex. A partir de 1980 trabajó en el Royal London Hospital.
