Tratamiento antidepresivo y el funcionamiento del generador espinal de la eyaculación

RESUMEN
La respuesta eyaculatoria se integra a nivel de la médula espinal y, recientemente, se demostró que está controlada por un generador central de patrones: el generador espinal de la eyaculación. El tratamiento farmacológico crónico frecuentemente tiene entre sus efectos adversos afectar la respuesta sexual. Las disfunciones sexuales asociadas al tratamiento antidepresivo incluyen con frecuencia alteraciones en la respuesta eyaculatoria. En esta revisión se presenta información novedosa que muestra que algunos de estos tratamientos alteran el funcionamiento del generador espinal de la eyaculación, por lo que es posible que estas alteraciones jueguen un papel en las disfunciones eyaculatorias asociadas al tratamiento crónico con antidepresivos. La información que surge del análisis del funcionamiento del generador espinal de la eyaculación es relevante para el diseño de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas para el tratamiento de las disfunciones eyaculatorias.
