RESUMEN
La biopsia por aspiración ha sido utilizada por muchos años como herramienta diagnóstica para el cáncer de mama. El presente módulo incluye las recomendaciones para la biopsia por aspiración con aguja fina (BACAF) de mama desarrolladas y aprobadas por el Instituto Nacional de Cáncer en Bethesda, Maryland, Estados Unidos y adaptadas a nuestro medio después de 10 años de experiencia realizando BACAF en el Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe, la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana y Dinámica IPS. También se tomaron en cuenta las recomendaciones de clínicos y radiólogos de diferentes centros médicos y universitarios de Medellín y del país.
