RESUMEN
La hemorragia uterina anormal es una entidad relativamente común y a pesar de esto su manejo puede ser complejo. La evaluación clínica de las pacientes con hemorragiauterina es de gran importancia para determinar si la causa es orgánica o si se trata de una hemorragia uterina disfuncional, con el fin de dar un manejo apropiado a cada paciente. Para ello se debe investigar sobre el patrón de sangrado y estratificar a la paciente como pre, peri o posmenopáusica. En este módulo se describen las principales causas de hemorragia uterina anormal, las ayudas diagnósticas para su clasificación y algunas guías para el manejo de estas pacientes. Se presenta un algoritmo para el estudio de la paciente con este desorden.
