Efecto de la ingestión de fluoruro de sodio en la concentración de malondialdehído y la actividad de enzimas antioxidantes en el eritrocito de rata

RESUMEN
Objetivo: determinar los efectos en la concentración de malondialdehído y la actividad de las enzimas antioxidantes en el eritrocito de ratas tratadas con fluoruro de sodio.
Material y métodos: se utilizaron ratas machos cepa Wistar, divididas en grupo control (sin tratamiento) y experimental (tratadas con 50 ppm de NaF). Se sacrificaron semanalmente hasta completar ocho semanas de tratamiento. Se obtuvieron los eritrocitos para determinar la concentración de malondialdehído en su membrana celular y estimar la actividad de las enzimas superóxido dismutasa, catalasa y glutatión peroxidasa.
Resultados: el fluoruro de sodio incrementa la concentración de malondialdehído en la membrana del eritrocito, únicamente a las ocho semanas de tratamiento. La actividad de las enzimas antioxidantes se alteró a partir de las cuatro semanas.
Conclusiones: la ingestión de fluoruro de sodio provoca alteraciones en el eritrocito de la rata, lo que indica la inducción de estrés oxidativo.
