Patología tiroidea en el adulto mayor

RESUMEN
La patología tiroidea en la población geriátrica se presenta en forma atípica y se confundirse con otras patologías o inclusive con los cambios propios de la edad. La incidencia de enfermedades de la tiroides, como el hipotiroidismo, el bocio multinodular y los nódulos tiroideos solitarios, aumenta gradualmente con la edad. Es de suma importancia para los funcionarios de la salud, conocer sobre los cambios en el paciente mayor a nivel tiroideo y en la presentación clínica de los padecimientos para adecuar el tratamiento en beneficio de su paciente.
