Guías de práctica clínica. Infección recurrente en las vías urinarias de la mujer

RESUMEN
Introducción: la infección de las vías urinarias es la segunda causa de prescripción empírica de antibióticos. Es más frecuente en la mujer sexualmente activa y con enfermedades asociadas. Cuando se padecen más de tres episodios por año, se cataloga como recurrente; el diagnóstico debe realizarse con urocultivos, y de acuerdo con la evaluación individual se orientará el tratamiento que incluya la profilaxis a largo plazo.
Objetivo: desarrollar una guía clínica para el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la infección recurrente de vías urinarias en la mujer, resaltar la evidencia de la sensibilidad y la resistencia bacteriana a los antibióticos en México.
Material y métodos: describir las opciones de tratamiento antibiótico con base en la etiología y sensibilidad, con insistencia en las opciones de prevención y profilaxis.
Resultados: se obtuvieron criterios homogéneos de diagnóstico y tratamiento en las mujeres con infección recurrente de las vías urinarias y para disminuir los episodios, la morbilidad asociada y la resistencia bacteriana.
Conclusiones: se efectuó una revisión sistemática de las investigaciones clínicas de diagnóstico y tratamiento de la infección recurrente de las vías urinarias. La calidad de la evidencia está relacionada con la aplicación de los criterios descritos en el esquema de Oxford modificado.
