Caso clínico. Bacteremia por Shigella flexneri en una mujer con VIH/SIDA

RESUMEN

La shigelosis es la infección aguda del tubo digestivo causada por la Shigella sp . El cuadro clínico de la infección varía desde gastroenteritis acuosa inespecífica a bacteriemia, que es la presencia de bacterias viables en la sangre. Ésta es poco frecuente, aunque se ha descrito en 4% de los pacientes hospitalizados bajo infecciones graves por S. flexneri , con mortalidad hasta en 20%. Las sepsis se presentan con mayor frecuencia en pacientes con inmunocomprometidos, como SIDA, desnutridos y en individuos deshidratados con insuficiencia renal o íleo. Presentamos el caso de una mujer que coincide la bacteremia por S. flexneri con el diagnóstico de VIH/SIDA.
