La discapacidad y su asociación con maltrato infantil

RESUMEN
Los niños y adolescentes con discapacidad tienen características que los hacen vulnerables y les pone en riesgo de sufrir alguna forma de maltrato infantil (MI). Hay diversos factores que influyen en esta situación entre los que destacan: el de familias de nivel socioeconómico pobre; la excesiva demanda en los cuidados y atención médica; la poca capacidad del menor para expresarse; el cuidado del niño por personas fuera del núcleo familiar; el escaso apoyo emocional al paciente y la familia; la falta de programas de autocuidado. Los niños con discapacidad deben recibir atención interdisciplinaria con la finalidad de identificar factores de riesgo de MI.
