RESUMEN
La incidencia de agenesia apendicular se reporta en una de cada 100,000 laparotomías por apendicitis aguda. El diagnóstico suele ser incidental y transoperatorio, ya que por lo general se presenta durante la exploración quirúrgica en un paciente con dolor abdominal agudo. En este artículo se presenta un caso de agenesia apendicular, describiendo la presentación clínica, los hallazgos operatorios y los beneficios del abordaje laparoscópico en el diagnóstico y tratamiento del paciente. Se describen también los aspectos embriológicos, epidemiológicos y terapéuticos de esta patología registrados en la literatura médica.
