Utilidad de los probióticos en pediatría.

RESUMEN
Los probióticos son microorganismos vivos, no patógenos, resistentes a la digestión normal y que alcanzan el colon en forma viable, donde ejercen un efecto benéfico para el ser humano. Entre sus funciones destacan la protección de la mucosa, limitación de la traslocación bacteriana y la modulación del sistema inmunológico en el tracto gastrointestinal. Su utilidad clínica en pediatría se ha estudiado en enfermedades tanto digestivas como extraintestinales. En esta revisión se explora la utilidad de los probióticos en diversas patologías.
