Síndromes pulmonares eosinofílicos

RESUMEN
Aunque los eosinófilos son componentes normales de los pulmones, diversos síndromes pulmonares eosinofílicos se distinguen por aumento de eosinófilos en sangre periférica, tejido pulmonar, esputo o en el lavado bronquioalveolar. Los síndromes pulmonares eosinofílicos generalmente se caracterizan por síntomas respiratorios, alteraciones en la radiografía y el potencial para manifestaciones sistémicas. Como el eosinófilo juega un papel tan importante en cada uno de estos síndromes, a menudo es difícil distinguir entre ellos. Sin embargo, existen diferencias clínicas importantes y paradigmas en el tratamiento; es importante entender y apreciar los rasgos que distinguen a cada una de estas condiciones. El presente artículo resume las manifestaciones clínicas de estos síndromes, sus diferencias y el abordaje diagnóstico del paciente con eosinofília y enfermedad pulmonar.
