Algunos aspectos de la organización y regulación genética en Trypanosoma cruzi: El agente etiológico de la enfermedad de Chagas

RESUMEN
La infección por
Trypanosoma cruzi causa la enfermedad de Chagas que es endémica en algunas zonas de México. Su agente etiológico que es un parásito obligado presenta un comportamiento clonal y por lo tanto hay diversas cepas del parásito con características genéticas diferenciales. En el presente trabajo se revisan algunos aspectos relevantes de la organización genómica, los mecanismos de transcripción y postranscripción de
T. cruzi, que es un organismo eucarionte con un genoma rico en secuencias de repetición, genes arreglados en paquetes con espacios intergénicos y pocas secuencias promotoras identificadas. Así como un RNA primario policistrónico y generalmente sin intrones que se madura a través de
trans-splicing y cuya regulación ocurre primordialmente a nivel postranscripcional.
