Introducción
Las patologías en el disco intervertebral del perro son comunes en la práctica clínica. Llegan a representar el 0.5 al 1% del número total de casos en la práctica clínica de pequeños animales. Además causan alteraciones neurológicas. De acuerdo con Braund y Moore y Withrow, la comprensión de la médula, aguda, subaguda o crónica, que se presenta después del prolapso de disco intervertebral, es la enfermedad neurológica más común en la práctica clínica.
